Over the last two decades the Internet has become the key enabler for the digital society. Its infrastructure and protocols, which have been drafted long before the explosion in offered bandwidth and services, are unfortunately starting to face serious growth limitations. In order to keep pace with the increasing demands, new ways have to be found to build a sustainable, scalable, and efficient global internetwork.

Within the European Commission FP7 project PURSUIT we are working on the design of a new Internet architecture relying on information-centric concepts. Such a design has a strong potential of solving many of the biggest challenges of the current Internet.

To strengthen our team at the Institute for Networked Systems, Prof. Mähönen, we are looking for undergraduate students to join us as student helpers (Studentische Hilfskräfte - HiWis).

Your tasks may include:
- implementation of publish-subscribe architecture for wireless networks
- implementation of network coding mechanisms for the PURSUIT protocol suite
- testing, evaluation, and documentation

Your profile:
- undergraduate student (BSc./MSc. level) with strong programming skills in C++, proven through previous projects
- motivated and talented team-player
- background in communications engineering through relevant courses
- good understanding of current Internet protocols (TCP/IP, etc.)
- fluency in English, oral and written
- past working experience in relevant field is highly beneficial

We offer:
- a competitive salary in accordance with university's SHK compensation scheme
- flexible working times, access to cutting edge technologies
- integration into an international team of researchers
- open door policy and a good working environment

Please direct your applications via e-mail, including a targeted motivation letter, a CV, a current transcript of records, and your availability, with attention to
