[BA/MA] Applying microphone array to localize and reconstruct multiple moving sound sources

Beitrag von FanyuMeng » Mo 31. Aug 2015, 11:22

Microphone array is widely used for sound source localization, in which beamforming, holography and deconvolution are three most popular post processing algorithms with different application purposes. Steering the main response axis (MRA) can find the incident direction of sound source because the array response in this direction reaches the maximum, at the same time the source signal is reconstructed with higher precision if the beam width and side lobes are properly controlled.

This project finds the optimal microphone array and post processing method not only to localize sound sources, but also to reconstruct the original signals, especially high-speed sources.

The results of the thesis will be applied in the source modeling of high-speed vehicles, especially high-speed train. With the localization information and synthesized signals, a virtual train can be auralized in the virtual environment (CAVE).
